UPDATE 4/5/09 - This update comes a little late. Sorry!! Alan is just fantastic. He has fit right into our home from day one. He gets along great with our 9 year old female boxer and they often share the overstuffed chair when they nap. Alan definitely is a dog that likes comfort. He sleeps with us on our bed every night (mind you he has a dog bed in the bedroom also). He doesn't have to be walked on a leash anymore to do his business. He goes out and comes back in when called. He follows Bailey. We live far off the road and are able to let them have some freedom off leash. Alan also loves to ride and loves to eat. He'll eat Bailey's if not watched. He makes us laugh each and every day and we love him very much. Thank you to all for helping us get such a great dog. I promise I will post some pics soon. We have some great ones!! 2/15/09 - Alan has been adopted! 8/16/08- Alan arrived today from a shelter in Alabama. He was left at an "after hours drop site" and picked up by animal control from there. The previous owners left no information, so I will let you know about Alan and his personality as we go. He has had a looooong journey to get here to Maine. Thank you to all the people who made this possible. I know some of you did VERY large legs of the trip to make it happen. Alan did a great job in the car on his way to the house. He was quiet the entire time. Alan has sniffed my dogs through the bars of his crate. So far he seems unphazed by them in the slightest. Alan also saw one of my cats when he was going into the crate with not a single reaction. Funny thing is he was more curious about the stone cat out in the garden. LOL He has settled into his crate, but does whimper a little from time to time. I hope to have Alan out with my pack soon. I will be sure to update everyone on his progress. |
