UPDATE 4/19/10 - Anna is doing great..She is 10 months old and finally housebroke.. It took sometime but she has it down now..She will come find me and grunt , she sounds like a goose when she makes that sound..Its her way of communicating..Very cute..She also is getting very trust worthy in the house..When I leave for short periods I am now leaving her loose in the house with the other dogs....She really only sleeps in the crate at night..She has her favorite chair right next to the window so she can keep a look out for the squirrels..She still has her navy blue soft blankie in her crate that she came into rescue with..Anna and Zona just adore each other.. Anna is very respectful of our older pugs.. she sleeps with them but knows to not bother them or try to play with them..They are just not intersted in playing..They are too old for foulish puppy antics..Anna walks nicely on the leash and only pulls when she sees a squirrel of something very interesting to her.. Shes such a wonderful dog  and so very lovable.. We truly enjoy her and I'm sure shes very happy here too..Can't say enough nice things about her.. Til next time.

UPDATE 2/7/10 - Anna is no longer little Anna..She is growing so fast , I think she is making up for lost time.. She is now 8 months old and almost the size of Zona our other boxer..Anna and Zona play all day long inside and out..They both love toys and fly around the house chasing each other with toys.. Anna was spayed a couple of weeks ago and all went well..We also found out she has mange which we are treating orally.. We live in the woods and have lots fo trails behind our house..I bundle the 4 dogs up in their coats and off we go for a long walk..Anna and Zona fly around the woods  like crazy ladies..They both come flying to me when I call them because they know I bring treats with me on our walks..Anna is such a loving snuggly boxer..When we sit down at night to watch TV we all have dogs on our laps.. Shes a cuddle bug..She really is a sweet heart..We are so happy with her..

UPDATE 12/9/09 - Anna is now 6 months old and is such a doll !! We absolutely love her..She listens very well.. she has been to 3 Puppy, Play and Learn classes..she is the best behaved in the class..Shes a puppy that aims to please.. Her and Zona ( adopted SCBR 2005) love each other and play constantly.. We also have 2 pugs Lila and Holly all get along really well.. Anna is a joy to have.. She is so sweet and lovable ,all wiggly and full of boxer kisses.. This week in the  new snow she races around jumping and running as fast as she can ..She is so fun to watch with her puppy antics..We are totally enjoying her and very happy to have her..Shes the perfect match for us..Thanks Leann and Jill..

- Where do I start with Little Miss Anna Banana? Oh my gosh she is such a LOVE and gives so many KISSES! She is a very typical boxer pup. Anna play hard, eats well and then sacks out for a power nap. She is great with the other dogs here and especially adores my youngest boxer boy. She loves my kids and everyone she meets especially my mother. For some reason Anna goes crazy (or should I say Bananas!) for her. Housebreaking is a work in progress, she is perfect in the crate and is not a chewer. She leaves my furniture, shoes etc. alone but will steal an occasional washcloth out of the laundry room or today she dragged the throw rug out of the bathroom and across the house. Typical puppy mischief, but when she does have something she shouldn't she will let go of it when told "drop it".
We took Anna to the dog park last week and she had a blast. She was a little shy at first but after about 10 minutes she was off and running. She did make sure she stayed close to her foster brother and kind of followed his lead with the other dogs. It was a lot of fun to watch her run, play and most importantly socialize with other dogs.
I finally managed to get complete vet records for Anna (I only had her vaccination history prior) so she is going to the vet on 11/4 for a check-up. She will need another deworming and I want my vet to check out her heart murmur and compare what he hears to the other vets notes. Hopefully it is just a puppy murmur that she will grow out of. I will work on getting pictures tonight. I have lots of pictures if her rear end she moves too fast! We have been working on "stay" so we will see how that works for a photo shoot. If she is not playing she is napping in a big pile with all the other dogs. Anna has settled into our routine here very well. She is a smart little girl. She is fed in her crate otherwise one of my dogs will try to help her out by eating her food. When I pick up her bowl she dashes from the kitchen, through the dining room into the living room and bounces into her crate. If the crate door is closed she will open it with her paw run in, turn around and wait patiently for me to put her bowl down. My husband was shocked that she picked it up so quickly. She comes when I call her regardless of what she is doing, she even listened at the dog park where my own dog sometimes forgets his name. She also knows we have treat time twice a day because one of my dogs gets his medication in a treat. She comes into the kitchen and patiently waits for her snack. By about 8:30pm she is pretty much done for the day. All the dogs nap until it is time to go out for the last time then she goes into her crate. She is quiet all night. We are really going to miss her when she gets scooped up by a lucky family!

- Anna Banana arrived Sunday morning, she is a 4 month old petite brindle girl with a good bit of white. I picked her up from a very tearful owner. Unfortunately her owners father had become ill and her owner made the difficult decision to surrender her to rescue. Anna was purchased from an out of state breeder and arrived a very sick little girl. She was very thin, had fleas, coccidia and kennel cough. Her owner took her to the vet right away and she spent several days there. Anna's medical problems were treated, she was dewormed and put on antibiotics for the kennel cough. There is just a little bit of the cough remaining (only when just waking up) which is completely normal. The vet also diagnosed Anna with a mild heart murmur. Most murmurs in puppies go away on their own and aren't anything to be concerned about but I will have my own vet check her out and give me his opinion just to make sure.
When I got little Miss Anna into the car she was thrilled to see the kids! Her little nub wiggled like you wouldn't believe and everyone was slathered with little puppy kisses. She settled down easily though for the 45 minute ride home. Once we got home she met the other dogs and was very nervous at first. They would try to sniff her and she would lay down. Needless to say that didn't last for very long and they all best of friends now. She adores my 1 year old boxer and they played almost all day today.
As with any pup Anna needs work on housebreaking and training we will work on that while she is here. She seems to be very well socialized and loves everyone she meets. She is very good in the crate. Not a peep out of her all night. More updates to come once we get to know her better!
