| UPDATE 2/13/10 - Wow! It has been a year since our Boo girl came home. A YEAR!!! We love our girl... she is settled in and a member of the family as if she was all her life! What a great dog.... loves to cuddle under the covers, run in the snow, lick the children until the roll out of bed and the list goes on. She is just a gem... snuggled up by the toasty fire. Actually we nicknamed her the fire queen... she sits by the fire only moving if it gets too low. She will slowly creep over to me and nudge me until I get up and put another log on!
Thanks to everyone who volunteers their time and energy so these dogs get a second chance. We are truly blessed to have our Boo girl in our lives!! Many thanks... UPDATE 8/11/09 - Can you believe it has been almost 6 months since we got Boo? Wow. I can't imagine life without our girl. She is just a great addition. She loves her walks in the morning, kissing the kids relentlessly and wiggling that tushy to greet us. She is in her second round of training because I had a great time. She thinks it is her personal playgroup. She justs wants to PLAY PLAY PLAY with all the other dogs, well all except the tiny little dachshund. He has issues though. Boo is just a great dog. She is a fast learner and loves all creatures great and small. We can't say enough to all of you at SCBR: THANK YOU. Thank you for the smiles, laughs, long walks and great pleasures little Boo brings to all of us each day!! UPDATE 5/21/09 - (Pomp and Circumstance inserted here)Boo graduated from obedience school!!!! Yeah Boo! She was awesome and I enjoyed the classes so much we signed her up for level 2 beginning in July. She even made a few friends at school- one of which is her boyfriend, Boxer Riley! She is a cougar though as Riley is only 9 months old!!! Boo is the perfect addition to our family... hanging out at the playground, Sunday trips to grandma's house, and her favorite -going to the beach. Boo has found the beach to be her personal digging ground. The kids get a kick out of how far she can throw sand while digging. I am impressed with how fast she can dig a HUGE hole. She has grown - boy has she grown. She now fits into her ears and paws. She is taller and heavier... a whopping 58 pounds. She watches her girly figure by jogging, but she enjoys her frosty paws, and other random snacks that my kids throw at her when I am not looking. She is very smart and a fast learner. She has learned to open the safety gate to get to the kids and patrol them if they are downstairs in the playroom. Her chewing on everything in sight stage seems to have passed but she sneaks a random kid toy into her mouth now and then. She gives the kids a look of disgust and shame when they catch her though. Well, I could go on and on about how great Boo is. But for now, I am just so proud of her graduation from obedience school and reenrollment for graduate classes. Enjoy the sunshine!! UPDATE 4/27/09 - Boo Skadoo here. Jogging daily in the AM with my mom and we are having fun. I need to keep my figure, ya know! I like school... I have to do boring way too easy things, like "sit" and " come". I am SO good at this and most of the time I am so bored I lie down and rest! But I score lots of "good girls" and pats on the head and TONS of treats so it is all worth it! All in all I am loving the family... they are pretty cool. I am totally spoiled, but I deserve it. Afterall, I carefully watch the yard and eat all bugs great and small. I chase any cats and small animals. I wag my bum at all the kids and adults. I give the grandparents TONS of love and gentle affection. I rock. And I listen.... okay mostly I listen but don't always do what I am supposed to! Hah. I am a boxer, afterall! UPDATE 3/22/09 - Boo is awesome! She has adjusted well to us (she is cuddled up on our bed as I type - SNORING)and is showing her personality more and more each day. She is just a goofy girl who LOVES to jump and play. She enjoys wrestling, tug of war and checking out her reflection on the TV screen. She loves to show off her Tigger-like jumping qualities... which can prove quite humerous. She can leap over our couches in a single bound - no running headstart required. As long as no one is on the couch surprised by her attack, it is actually quite funny to watch. She has visited the vet and is healthy healthy... gaining weight - she is 54 pounds now. I was not surprised... she is a chow hound... girlfriend can eat!! She loves her walks. She and I go for a nice walk/jog in the morning without the kiddos! She is a pleasure to walk with but she is still learning her leash manners. We all have something to work on, right? Boo will begin obedience training in April. I think she will enjoy the interactions with other furry friends! Our girl loves our kids and they really, really love her. Our youngest keeps sneaking treats to her, which I know Boo thoroughly enjoys! Boo sends LOTS of kisses and hugs to her foster family. She is a GREAT girl whom we have fallen in love with!! Thanks for all you do... each and every volunteer. Until our next update... 2/27/09 - Boo has been adopted! 1/28/09 - Hi! I arrived from Georgia at my foster home yesterday and was so excited that this is the first chance that I am giving my foster mom to write about me. I am a beautiful young lady that arrived without a name of my own so my foster skin-sisters have decided to call me Boo! I love it! I already come running the minute I hear my name mentioned. My foster family is still figuring out just what I can do and how many commands I know. I am patient with them as they try things out since they are really nice people. I tend to pull on my leash when walking, but it's just because I am very curious by nature and love to explore. As soon as my foster parents pull up on my leash I remember that they are there and come right back into line. I am great in the car. My fosters are so happy that I jump in and out on my own. I can sit and give my paw (if I am not too excited). I know to go outside to potty, but I was a little reluctant with all of that white wet stuff on the ground. What is that stuff?? Once I got outside and started trying to run I was sliding all over the place. Then I realized how much fun sliding can be! I love to run around the yard and I am SUPER fast! I make everyone laugh! Having a large yard to run in at my future home would be a bonus, but if you don't have one...just be prepared to walk me and play ALOT! I will give you lots of kisses and boxer dances! I am having a great time here, but my foster family keeps talking to me about finding a forever home. If you are reading this then you must be thinking about teaching me just what a forever home is. I would love to know...so just put your application in! PS My foster mom thinks that this is something that will happen very quickly...and she loves being right! |
