10/2/08 - Chico is a great dog! I have found out that he has lived with and was
good with dogs and kids over 4. Don't know about the little kids under 4. Probably
too rough. He walks very well on leash, knows sit and expects a treat for his
efforts!  He has no limp. He has been out running and roughhousing in the yard
with the Log Cabin crew and they have given him a great workout!  He does get to
see the vet on Monday for a quick check. Some of his heart distress may have
been caused not only by the stress of the  shelter, but his underweight condition.
He is still underweight, but he is eating like a champ, adapting to play and
freedom, sleeps very well, and has already picked out a couple of "favorite"
bones. LOL!  His neuter surgery was lengthy and no ill effects due to his heart
were noted, so that's a great sign.  This is a very nice boy!

09/27/08 - Chico arrived in the rain around 7:30 pm last night. Chico is a very
nice white boy with nice brown ear patches. Only pictures will serve to show this
handsome boy.  We are currently doing the "crate shuffle" to keep his activity low
key because he is said to have a possible leg injury. While out in the yard with
him I have not seen any indication of any limp, etc yet. He also had very invasive
surgery for his neuter, so he needs time to heal. A heart murmur was discovered
prior to his surgery. The shelter  suggests a consultation with a cardiologist. He
is also on medication  for Kennel Cough, but I haven't heard any cough, yet.  He
was quiet in the crate all night, ate a very good breakfast and will have lunch as
well. He is underweight and could stand at least 8-10 pounds more to cover his
ribs, etc. He was an owner surrender to the shelter because they were moving.
His transporter, direct from the shelter to me was Nancy,  one of the shelter
workers.  She really liked him and spent a bit of time saying good bye!  Nice Dog!
