| NOTE ** Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where
someone is home often, such as retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parents, etc. UPDATE 3/20/09 - Our Ruby is the bomb! She is 28 pounds of pure love and silliness. Ruby had her first training class and she is by far the smartest in her class. She is already fully house broken and she knows all her commands. She is in excellent health and she is up to date with all shots. She had her first playdate but she was a little scared. The dog was much bigger and Ruby just wanted to hide behind my legs. We're going to try again this week-end. She's also a little shy with new people too. Ruby gets walked to the bus stop every afternoon to get her boy Nathan off the bus. The kids go crazy when they see her. We're new to the neighborhood, and she's broken the ice for Nathan. Thank you again for all the joy that Ruby has brought our family. No dog could be more loved! UPDATE 2/15/09 - Ruby is the joy of the household. She tortures her big sister Peppers (10 year old Boston Terrier). Poor Peppers wants to come up for air once in a while but they love each other and are great buddies . Ruby is house broken and crate trained, but really only sleeps in the crate at night. We are taking her on her first trip this week to meet our son Daniel who is in college. We can't wait for her to get the rest of her shots because we have a lot of playdates waiting for her. She is signed up for puppy training at the end of March. She is doing a lot of teething and we are working on this. We adore her! She really is such a mix of boxer and Shari-Pei it's amazing. She is a little shy with strange adults but loves kid. She even gets along with the cats. She's a keeper! Love to all our friends and extended family at 2nd Chance Boxer rescue 1/18/09 - Cupid has been adopted! 12/30/08 - The Reindeer Gang turned six weeks old yesterday :) and so, it was time for their first set of shots. First we had to figure out how to transport them to the vet-between Liz and I, we only had a Camry available, no SUV lol soooooo with approximately 65+ pounds of puppies to move, we had our hands full, literally :)) We managed, using a small crate, a small vari-kennel and Aunt Dee's arms :)))) The babies were soooooo scared, they literally shook the carriers, but they made it through their ordeal with flying colors and got clean bills of health and their first set of puppy shots. I'm not sure how Aunt Liz is feeling this morning-she carried a crate full of babies from the car! and her back may be suffering a bit today. I am not sure just HOW she managed to do that-a HUGE thank you to Aunt Liz for all of her help-I could not have done any of this without her-from start to finish!! Here is the latest weigh-in: Cupid 7lbs 6oz Vixen 7lbs 5oz Prancer 8lbs 7oz Dasher 8lbs 5oz Dancer 7lbs 12oz Comet 8lbs 8oz Donner 8lbs 6oz and the big guy Blitzen 9lbs 4oz These are WONDERFUL puppies who are already responding to a "shhhhh" or a "no" and even, occasionally, when I say "come, come, come". They are getting so much from their mom who continues to be a wonderful mother, instructing her brood in just how to be dogs-and how to behave appropriately in the world. She monitors them and intervenes when it is necessary, letting them know when they are getting too rough with one another. It's really amazing to watch her school these babies and how quickly they learn-and they look to her for guidance. You can watch them watching HER and reading her signals. I remain totally fascinated by it all. Dogs are truly amazing creatures. 12/22/08 - I got to go visit and play with the Reindeer Gang today... OMG they are like little doggies now. sweet little baby dogs. The individual personalities are coming through. I'd call them from one end of the whelping box...... calling PUP, pup, pup, pup, pup. They come running and drape their paws over one section... looking for the attention......ADORABLE :) All just so sweet........... I got to pet everyone, hold a few, smooch a few. I got my share of puppy breath for sure. They are happy and healthy babies.. Their coats feel like a million bucks :)) Liz 12/13/08 - It was time for the pups to have their second scheduled worming, so we had to do a weigh-in and here are the results lol These little guys really are growing like weeds. Dasher: 6lbs 9oz Dancer 6lbs 9oz Prancer 6lbs 14oz Vixen 6lbs 10oz Comet 6lbs 11oz Cupid 6lbs even Donner 7lbs even and the big guy Blitzen 7lbs 6oz |
