UPDATE 3/2/10 - Duke here...  Me and Mom went out and did errands last Saturday and Daisy stayed home for a change and took care of everything there.  Me and Mom got to go to the Post Office then we went to the store to pick up Kibble.  I had to growl at the guy who brought out the bag for Mom so he would know who was in charge but he did well and put the kibble in the back of the truck and went on his way.  Then we went to get coffee and munchkins.  Took us a good 1-1/2 to get everything done.  I did miss my Daisy but it was awfully nice to get out just me and Mom.

UPDATE 1/26/10 - Duke here....  As you all know me and my sister Daisy recently relocated to our forever home shortly after the holidays.  Just wanted to update you all on new things going on for the both of us.
Course the ride home was quite noisy.  Daisy whined and moaned and cried...  She is such the worrier that girl...  As fast as Mom would stuff her face with comfort food she would swallow and whine...  We did finally arrive all french fried filled and ready for exploring our new home.  Mom and Daisy are working on the whining and getting pretty good and it.  They are also working on the fact that each of us, me and Daisy deserve a little private time with Mom without any jealously and whining.
So anyways, a few days after our arrival Mom ended up getting sick so that is why our update is so late.  She is feeling much better now and I have been helping her around the house while she is mending.
So new things in our lives:  We have a wood stove.  It is so warm to cozy up below when it gets cold outside.  We have learned to not race out the door when Mom brings in wood and that after letting us out for pees'n'poops throwing in new sticks on the stove and bringing in wood is second on the agenda, just before supper.  So "Stay" we have gotten quite good at during our "training" with peanut butter dipped cookies each night.  We each can now do new and exiting things individually and we are learning hand signals which is really cool.  When I first came I had an infection that ran down the folds of skin under my eyes, so Mom has been treating that with antibiotics and a salve and it is now all better.  We now also have a new nightly routine that we both questioned at first, but have now grown to just love.  Each night, or almost every night, Mom will take a very warm face cloth (Daisy's has flowers, mine is just plain) and rub it all over our faces and down our backs and b  ellies.
She keeps warming it up and we each take turns.  Daisy has noticed the brown lines under her eyes have faded and my face has improved where it used to be just so itchy and sore and red.  I'm hoping the fur will eventually grow back there.  It is sooooo relaxing.  I just close my eyes now and relax.  I also let Mom brush me if she really needs to.  One day Mom went into the closet and pulled out this great big bag.  It was just stuffed full of all kinds of squeaky toys an crackling things and pull stuff.  So we have a basket right in the living room with all kinds of toys that we can go play with anytime we want.  Usually Daisy picks out alot of the squeaky noisy stuff (she's just that type of girl, noisy) but I go more for the crackly stuff and pull stuff.  We were able to change over to the new kibble with relatively no issues and we have thoroughly explored our own private fenced in area in the back.  We discovered that red lights are very much fun to chase and there are t  wo other dogs next door that we can bark at.  We also have been meeting all kinds of long lost relatives that we never even knew we had.  There is Auntie Sandy who has been helping Mom with the wood since she's been sick and who loves to come and let us out early and talk to us, we met Uncle Randy who was alot of fun and Uncle Dana who plows.  Auntie Cheryl comes over and we just met our forever Auntie Rose who was just most enjoyable yesterday.  We have learned that just everybody loves us and is very happy of our arrival and that we will never have to move again.  It is nice to now be settled in and things going well.  I'll have Daisy update you guys next time.

I feel bad I don't have a TON to say to you, but these two little gems are just so easy going and do exactly what they are supposed to do that we don't have a ton of info.  If I kept a journal of their daily activities it would say sleep, eat, drink, sleep, wag my bum for my mom to come home, go out and do the duties, sleep, wag my bum again when "the boys" come home, and once again when daddy gets home!  Then sleep all night like good little pups!  These guys are pretty easy to care for that leaves me pretty speechless.  We still have some road construction going on out front of our house, which is kinda confusing the pups and gets them a little distracted, but they are still good about going outside for business and coming back when called.   I gave them both a bath the other night and they both shook so bad that they gave me a bath back!! lol...Duke forgot that he is about half my size and wouldn't get in the tub himself. I had to pick him up ;)  Needless to say, I won't do that again unless I have to.. I have decided maybe Foster Daddy can be in charge of baths!  But I can't say enough how great and sweet these two are!  As much as we want them to stay, we want them to have a great home for the rest of their lives!!!!

well this freeeezing cold spurt we had last week was definitely not appreciated by the princess daisy and the king duke here at the foster home...They would run out the door take a quuuuick tinkle and RUN back inside lol...funny to watch them hurry hurry hurry!  Now I want you to keep in mind what sweet, loving, good natured, pups these guys are....But this week started out a little rough.  Daisy had a little bit of a behavioral issue and decided that she was upset or angry with me and thought pee-ing indoors was ok...IN her defense, my youngest son had surgery (yes, he is fine thank you!)  and I really do think she was either feeling my stress or feeling like I wasn't giving her enough time with all the other million things I had to do to prep the house.  But now that he is back home and yesterday started out back to normal, they were both back to their well-behaved selves...I really do find it wierd that they are so intuitive into my feelings in such a short time in fosterland.   Also both of them are a little stressed due to the water department working right outside the house (in their potty area),  so they are confused as to where to do business as there are men and tractors and huge trucks everywhere.  So maybe I am just a defensive mama, but I think whatever flaws they have had in our home were all someone else's fault!  We are thinking dukes eye infection is on-going and have called our vet to get some more cream and meds for that- so that should be under control and should be looking good soon!  Also, as I mentioned above, we have had all those workers outfront - Duke barks like a big tough guy and when we take them outside he runs right over to everyone like the sweet pup that he is and gives everyone kisses!  They are both such sweet doggies!!!! Get your applications in now for the dynamic duo!!!!!!!

Well it has been another fine week for this loving pair ;)  Daisy is a sweet little whiny girl lol- she wines if you are not giving her attention and gives you these sad eyes!  Every night they both lay their heads on the end of our bed looking at us like "hey, can we come up??"  I have to admit I have given in a few times, but daddy always lays the law down on the sleeping situation!  We have a friend that has been stopping over with his female rhodisian ridgeback puppy- well she is a little over a year old and a whopping 110lbs.  The dogs all get along great and run around the yard - they have a good old time together!  So we do know that they can be around other dogs- I think the biggest thing is them having each other (duke and daisy).  They would be lost without the other!  We have noticed that Duke gets a little excited at times and does pee- I am not sure if he is just to excited with another dog or maybe its our friends voice when he is trying to get all the dogs outside as a group but he does have a little issue with that- like I said I am not sure if he is nervous or just to excited but we are trying to work on that and make him feel secure in his foster home!  They are really good about being home during the day but I have also noticed that an 8 hour day is their max or there will be an accident in the house.  So if you work an 8 hour shift (like most of us have to)  and there is driving time, you would need to go home for a lunch break or whatnot to let them do their business.  Typically I work 8:30-4:30 and that is about 10 min up the rd.  and they are all right- I have gotten caught up at work and let them out at like 5:30 and someone did take a tinkle in the house.  Duke has gotten waaaay better with his instinct to jump on someone when they first walk in the house and just greets them with a bum wiggle now ;)  They walk outside with my husband with no leash and stay right with him.  I however am not that brave and always put them on a leash- but know that once they know their owner they really do listen!  They both have quite awesome personalities - sweet, loving, gentle, funny and are complete joys to have around- I can't even emphasize enough on how great they are with my boys!  These two are the perfect pair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the pups are doing great!  We took them to the vets 2 weeks ago to get a clear bill of health :)  Duke did have a pretty nasty eye infection that is now clearing up nicely and Dasiy had a UTI that has been treated as well!!!  Both of them have settled in so great to our home.  They have full run of our house all day by themselves and are always very well behaved.  I have caught them on the couch little sneaks lol-  They have excellent manners, never jump on the furniture (other then when they are by themselves lol..) never jump on people, are both completly housebroken, these two wont even potty in our backyard they make us take them up the road!  We also have let them out in the backyard which is fenced in with very short fencing and they will not run off- they stay right with us all the time.  We even have chickens nextdoor that mosey into our yard and these two even tho they are extremely curious they will dart over and when we say their names they run right back-  Duke ran off yesterday or so we thought and then i heard him just coming to the front door rather then the back door- these two are just like having a couple more kids around lol- they are full of personality but are such a nice addition - I know they will make you so happy if you adopt them!!!!!!  and I know it sounds like alot adopting two dogs but they are such a nice package deal you won't even notice that there are two!!!!! These two are EXCELLENT with kids- my 3 year old son is obsessed with them and they dont mind a bit to have him in their face.  And they are actually quite protective- our family friend came over and was horsing around with my boys (boys will be boys lol)  and Duke started barking and growling like "leave my boys alone" but right when I said "Duke its OK"  he backed down - but he did keep circling "his boys" -  I always let them out to potty before getting my sons from daycare and I always say I gotta get the "boys" and they get all excited :)  These dogs would be perfect in a family setting and would also be perfect for an older couple or person who would just love a couple happy go lucky pups who are just grateful for a place to sleep and a face to kiss!!!!!!!!  Pictures are coming soon I promise!!!!!

- Duke and Daisy have travelled the big trip this weekend!  They did great on the transport and have already settled in nicely.  I think them having each other has made it easier on them.

Duke has cropped ears and a docked tail.  I am guessing he is about 85-90lbs.  He is a big boy!  He is brindle in color.  Has a sweet gray face lol :)  He is super with my 3 and 4 year old sons.  Knows basic commands.  Does pull a little on a leash but is better with my husband and doesn't pull as much.  He is going to the vets to be up to date on shots and to be neutured.  I will be sure to update everyone with how the vets goes on Thursday.
I really need to stay with my "sister" Daisy, please adopt us both!
