UPDATE 1/14/10 - This month is the 6th month that we have had the pleasure of living with our wonderful new little boy, Knucklez. He had his birthday Nov. 28th and it was a fun day for us all, puppy ice cream for him and Duke and cake for the rest of us. They both like to sit at the table just like the rest of the family it's a funny sight so for the occasion we all sat at the table.  Knucklez continues to be the big clown of the house, always looking to play, and goof around. He has endless energy even for Duke his 3 year old boxer brother by a different mother. Duke is patient and when he's had enough he just "tries" to ignore Knucklez but Knucklez will not have any of that, he wines(my first boxer winer) my own kids didn't wine as much as this puppy, but it gets attention and I'm sure that's why he does it. He boxes, he wines, he runs circles around duke or the person he's interested in, he picks up toys even nibbles on Duke for attention. Most of the time Duke just gives in. It's so funny to watch them play together, and it makes us all giggle. Everyone just loves him, How can you not? What a wonderful gift he has given us all, A smile, a giggle, a laugh... the best things in life.   He is getting big  but still thinks he's a lap dog. He still eats like a rescue, or wants to I think he hit 65 or 70 this month. The first snow was  actually a happy event, they loved  the snow and despite the fact that they both don't like going out ion the rain, Knucklez found his first snow amazing and exciting. Daddy had to dig a poo-poo trench for them so they could walk to the regular spots and smell the ground, but after a while he figured out he could eat it and run in it and dig it and that he did. Every five minutes he wanted out to go play. And even after it melted he went to the little patches that were left and stood in them. For all the mess and hassle the snow was i, watching the puppies play in it makes it fun.   Knucklez is a crazy wonderful happy puppy, and we all know in our hearts he was meant for us and us for him. We all look forward to many more days, weeks, months, years, of giggles with our wonderful new boy. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, you all  provide the means for us to have found each other and I hope the SCBR will always be there to do the same for many, many more like us .

UPDATE 10/5/09 - Well Hello!  Another month has gone by already,I've thought about how I wanted to start this months update.  I knew in my heart the best way to begin, would be to describe our Knucklez in one word that encompasses his true spirit, and that word is   "HAPPY"   He's a Happy puppy, no mistaking it . Its the first thing peaple say about him and recognize in him , he's "Happy".   Knucklez gets happy and excited every morning just to start a new day, when he sees everyone its like it's the first time in a long time, and play....  well he could tire out the best of them. When he wants to play with Duke(and Duke is a very active 2 and 1/2yr. old) and duke is tired  he mopes around even wines to get dukes attention he doesnt take no for an answer,He'll pick up a toy or bone and try to entice duke by passing by him and parading infront of him to get a rise out of him, he's definately the first winer we've had, it's a little funny. His energy is off the chart, but it's also a endless supply of silly, funny, rediculous moments that make us smile and we wouldnt trade it for the world. We Can't wait to see what he thinks of snow, the others have all loved it and with his thirst for fun and high- jinx, I'm sure it'll be a blast. He has been doing well in his obedience classes and has really bonded with dad over the past few weeks of lessons, its an opportunity for the two of them to spend more time, and dad is quite proud of him and loves how attached Knuicklez has become to him, he makes him feel like a #1 Dad (just like the mug says) He's really has become a "daddy's boy" and listens very well when dad speaks.  This week is they're final calss and hopefully knucklez can stay focused long enough to earn his diploma.  They have been practicing, but he's such a friendly little guy and is  easily distracted, thats the biggest challenge keeping his attention, but he's kind of become a liitle bit of a teachers pet (LOL) too,  so we'll take all the help we can get and hopefully it'll go well and they'll graduate with colors.( Dads thinking of wearing matching bow ties for the occasion.)   All in All we are all very HAPPY and have all come to believe what we new in our hearts from the start Knucklez was meant for us and us for him.   Until next time,  Thanks SCBR, from the HAPPY family!

UPDATE 9/9/09 - Knucklez, 2 months now.  Wow!  Another  month has gone by and it just seems like Knucklez has always been here, yet we do remember how it felt to be without him. He has been such a big bright bundle of joy in our home. He has a way of making us all smile and laugh with his silly antics. The ever present "happy full body wiggle" is priceless. I swear he  smiles too! We weren't sure about the name, but we have grown accustomed to it and discovered that it fits him, with his big clumsy white mitts his name is quite suited for him, "Big 'Ol Goofy Tough Knucklez with a Z", watch out, here I come!!! Knucklez started obedience classes this month.  He's the biggest at a whopping 54 lbs and he's doing great, learning the commands and getting plenty of rewards, which I suspect is his true motivation. We are working on the jumping, it's the hardest thing. He's always so happy and excited to see people (he loves everyone and wants to kiss faces) that he can't seem to contain himself. He does love to please as much as he loves to play so I'm certain he'll get it soon. He has a set game plan now, things he does everyday, his favorites, like running around and around and around the car, trying to catch glimpses of Dukes direction from peeking underneath, then theres the sprinkler juggling, he picks it up in his mouth and runs round the yard with it while Duke chases him, the way the boys used to play with the super soakers back when they were little, I guess water is fun for everyone big or small, 2 legs or 4. Then we have the peek-a- boo hide and seek game under the bed covers, (daddy is not too fond of that one) they have so much fun I don't have the heart to stop them. First Knucklez snuggles his way under the covers and Duke pokes and swats at him from over the covers and then they switch. It's the funniest thing to watch.  Knucklez has really starting to enjoy the toys more too, the squeeky ones are his favorites (aside from bones which I think he could chew all day).
We are working on the retrieving and people play, he really seems to enjoy the play with 2yr old boxer buddy Duke so much more, and doesn't yet understand the play and fetch concept with his human family. All in all, Duke is loving his new pal so much, Knucklez has filled the void for Duke and the two are just the best of friends, they are inseparable. Duke's been teaching him the ways of the world, the good (and sometimes naughty) games and manners. The easy mouthing play which at first was rough, Duke had a lot of little nicks from the puppy's teeth, but slowly Knucklez has learned to guard it more and he is much more tender now when they play. The biggest accomplishment this month has been with his food dish and treats. It was an issue at first he was nervous and guarding of his dish, but he has discovered that there is always enough and there is always more coming, so he has been able to relax and even share and eat out of the same bowl with big brother Duke occasionally (he sneaks his head into Dukes bowl)  No aggression what so ever,  I'm very proud. Knucklez is growing up, he's happy, he's healthy (all healed with only a few dark scars left) and we all love him to pieces. Thanks so much SCBR for bringing us together. It's been so great. I've found joy in him and I've enjoyed being part of the yahoo group and chatting with people who are as loving and dedicated to their boxers as much as we all are. Until next month....

UPDATE 8/5/09 - Where do I begin? I have to say first that it's important to
know that we feel that the universe does work in mysterious ways. We had been searching for a way to cope with the sudden passing of our 5 yr old boxer while our 2yr old boxer boy was tremendously lonely. We had finally come to the decision that we wanted to adopt a rescue  dog and offer our hearts and home to a dog that needed one.... Along came Knucklez...This amazing puppy has come into our lives, with a whirlwind of wiggles and joy, just when we needed him, and has made our family feel  whole again. He "had us at hello", and from the moment we saw him we knew we were in love. Knuklez's journey to his "forever" home started with a 7 hour car ride to Long Island, New York. We began our long trip back, and were not sure what to expect, but it seemed Knucklez knew he was going home. The trip was long but this incredible puppy slept most of the way (between kisses) on my lap and on the puppy bed in the back seat.  With only a few potty breaks, and a quick hamburger stop for the road. Finally we arrived home to meet the new family, 3 (human) big brothers, and his new 2yr old boxer brother, Duke. THIS WAS IT. KNUCKLEZ WAS HOME! He and Duke have been inseparable ever since. Knucklez has brought out the puppy in all of us again. He has adjusted very well to the house, almost as if he has always been here. It's hard to believe it's only been a month. No problems, no fears, he's friendly to everyone, he loves to chew his bones, squeek his toys, run and play, and all the regular things puppies love to do. He has free run of the house all day, the side door to the front yard is always open (while we're home) so he can play outside with Duke or come inside to rest on the couch when he tires himself (and Duke) out. He sits on command is learning to shake hands and lay down for a treat reward. He is walking well on his harness (see photo) and loves to ride in the car, and go to the softball games at the park. He had his first swimming lesson in the big pool, in the backyard with Dad last week, but he much prefers the sprinkler and the hose (see photo). It's his favorite game, and he gets to play it almost everyday alongside Dukes puppy pool (which never has a chance to fill up anymore since he discovered the nozzle) He runs around the house all day with duke, up and down the stairs , without a limp anymore and passes out in the bedroom at night on his puppy bed, with Duke right next to him.. He's stuck like glue to his new family and we all love it. He eats like a horse. I don't know where he puts it, but Dad says he knows and picks it up every night (LOL) Yesterday he met his new vet, Dr. Blonder. Knucklez weighted in at 53lbs. He had his first check up and Dr. says he's a perfectly healthy and beautiful puppy, but we knew that. He has stolen the hearts of everyone he meets, his wiggle his smile the way he prances around, gives us all such joy and makes us smile everyday. Knucklez has rescued us you see, and we all feel lucky to have found each other. What a perfect match we all make, Knucks, Mom, Dad, the brothers, and most especially Duke, THANKS SCBR from the bottom of our hearts,

Knucklez went to his forever home today

Wow, you gotta see this little guy to believe him. He came and stayed in Puppyland last night so I could take him to Dr. Matt this morning. That boy N E V E R stops wiggling!!!!!! He even wiggles when he sits! HE was sitting on my throw rug and wiggled it into a bunch! He's SO CUTE!!! There's not a person, place or thing in this world he doesn't love immediately. I tried to get pictures of him, but the ones here are the best I could do because he never stopped moving. I have about 10 other  pictures of the back of his head, his butt or his shoulder. He loved everyone at the vet's office and Dr. Laura had to  stop chuckling at his antics to get his heartbeat. He never stopped moving long enough to even know there was a cat right over his head on the counter. I gave him a pre-snip treat and let him sleep in the puppy pile on the bed last night. I swear he wiggled in his sleep!
I don't think he's been really exposed to house living. Every sound is startling to him; tv, washer, toilet. The same with the car. He wasn't sure where he should go or what he should do (so he kept trying for my lap) and the noises of puddles and cars passing caused him to flinch. He's not really clear on the playing thing either, much to Tori's dismay. She wanted to box with him (she's a lab, go figure)the second he came in the house. Nope... to much to see, do and smell. This is one of the sweetest dogs we've had and someone should snap him up before they miss out!

Knucklez was an owner surrender to rescue. His owner was overwhelmed with 2 puppies and twin toddlers. Knucklezs had a leg injury that seems to be healing well. We will have the vet double check it on Thursday when he goes for his neuter. So far he is laid back happy guy. Getting along great with the other 5 dogs here and everyone he meets. Loves to ride in the car as well. Another update as we get to know him.
