| UPDATE 2/13/10 - My 4th try at making this out this afternoon.
Sabrina is well and happy. Her coat really shines. I switched her over onto Rachel Ray's Nutrish dog food because of it's great ingredients of real meat & vegetables. I think she is gaining a little weight. She finished her dog training class last weekend. I had asked the instructor to mail you a confirmation that she attended and completed her classes. The class did not really train her as much as the last two dog obedience classes I have taken dogs to. They had the dogs sit, stand, lie down, heal and stay in all positions, and with both voice or hand signals. It was very impressive. In this class we went over how to crate train, loose lead walking so they do not pull, come, a little of stay, leave it, and shake hands. I don't ever intend to have a crate. I want her to be able to go to the door to intimidate any stranger that stops by when I am not home, or when I am home alone. She still pretty much tries to ignore me when I ask her to lie down, but will sit, and she really pays attention about not pulling on the lead. Though she didn't pull too much to begin with really. Leave it was a fun trick to teach her. I think we may do another class in the spring or summer. She really did well with the other dogs. Monday Sabrina goes with her little bobcat friend to get updated with some of their shots, and she will get tested for lime disease & heart worm. UPDATE 12/5/09 - Sabrina is doing wonderfully. She & I traveled to my cousin's home in Mass. for Thanksgiving. She likes to travel in the truck and really is a great companion. She got along well with everyone. She was well behaved in their home. My cousin gave her a stuffed hedgehog dog toy that she absolutly adores! We are home together this first evening of snow, and she is happy and content by the warm fireplace as I knit. It is nice to not have to be alone anymore. I certainly feel much safer now. I still have not received Sabrina's paperwork. Past Vet records and such. Will those be forthcoming soon? UPDATE 11/3/09 - Sabrina came home on Halloween! She fits in perfectly here. A perfectly behaved little girl. She is healthy, happy, and has no behavior problems. She is gentle and a very affectionate, loyal, companion. She loves to play with her many new toys. She is housebroken and trustworthy loose in the house. She really listens, and walks well on a leash. She is getting along well with the cat, and has been good around the geese & the pony. She loves riding in the truck, and has been good when visiting and playing with other dogs. She plays so gently with children. I feel so much safer at home now not alone, and not so lonely with dear Sabrina to keep me company. 10/31/09 - I was adopted today! 10/11/09 - Hi everyone, I thought I would drop you a line and let you know how I am doing. I am very happy here in Derry and have settled in quite nicely. My stepbrother, Buster (he's a cat) is a pretty good friend to have. We sniff each other and everyone is together watching TV in the evenings. I have a great yard to run around in. My foster mom has some fun toys for me out in the yard. I push them around with my nose and then bark at them, and then push them some more. We go for walks on the bike path. I meet lots of people with dogs and even some horses trot by us. I especially like when we go out in the car to do errands. I get to see alot of things around town. My foster mom likes to take me with her because she says I am such a good girl! I go in my crate every night and wait patiently in the morning for my mom to come to the kitchen and let me out. I know I will be happy in my forever home. You just need to pick me out of the group and I can come to live with you. You will be very glad you picked me. I'm the top dog! I hope to meet you soon. Love, Sabrina 9/27/09 - Sabrina arrived in Derry this afternoon and is settling in. (She's spent the last few weeks in a kennel while we found an available foster home.) She and the cat are almost friends! I will work on a little weight gain with her. We will have fun together until she is adopted. 8/30/09 - Well, I'm baaaaaccccckkkk! Rrrrrrrats!!! Ok, I guess I finally have to admit it, I am a Princess in the house and I just do not want to completely share my people with other dogs all the time. I got into a fight in the house with one of my new doggie brothers and after that I just didn't want to deal with him around in the house anymore so I would glare at him to keep him away from my Mommy & Daddy and me. I know, I should learn to share, but I do have to say I can get along with other dogs (ex: to walk in a neighborhood, go to training class, etc), but I just will not be a good dog park/doggie daycare type of a girl and I need to be the only dog in the home. My new parents did say my tummy has been perfectly fine since I had been with them and no more issues there. They loved me and were very sad to let me go too. They said how good I was with them and never any issues with sharing my food or toys and attention with people, just with the other dogs. They also said how good and mellow I am, my Mom liked to jog & tried taking me with her, that's just too much work for a Princess! I liked to WALK instead a lot of the way! :) I love to go for car rides and enjoy sitting pretty and looking out the window as you drive. Many people say I look like some of those "show dogs" and I have to agree, I AM gorgeous! Do you have a spot for me in your home? I am hoping this time it is for good as I am ready to settle down. 8/13/09 - Sabrina was adopted again! 8/9/09 - Unfortunately Sabrina is back to find another home as one of the pugs in her new home & she are suddenly not getting along. UPDATE 7/31/09 - Sabrina has fit right into our home nicely.. She and Zona ( adopted from SCBR 2005) love each other and play constantly..we also have 2 female pugs who also get along with Sabrina..Sabrina is a true love bug..she is so affectional and a very well behaved boxer.. Someone spent alot of time loving and training her before we got her.. When I'm out in the barn with our horses Sabrina and the other dogs are right out there with me.Sabrina's former home was a farm with horses so she is totally comfortable with the horses and barn activities.. when out in the yard with me she stays right with me .. comes nicely when I whistle or call her..shes awesome..Her and Zona fly around the yard chasing and boxing each other.. she walks nicely on a leash ..I walk Sabrina and Zona 2 miles most days..The only problem with Sabrina is we are finding she either has colitis or irritable bowel symdrome.. She is terribly thin and very loose stools..We have been to the vets 2 times so far ..She is on meds and we are trying a different dog food to see if that helps..Hopefully it will..She is super sweet and a lovely girl..We are very happy with her.. Thanks SCBR 7/3/09 - Sabrina was adopted today 6/20/09 - Sabrina has been with us for almost a week now. She is an absolutely wonderful well mannered dog to have around. Sabrina is a 3 1/2 year old brindle female with a white chest. She's all up to date on her shots, and on Thursday she will be getting spayed and heartworm tested. Sabrina does very well with people of all ages and our other 2 dogs. When we first got Sabrina, she wouldn't do stairs. After working with her for a few days she goes up and down the stairs with no problems. She's a very quick learner. Sabrina loves to go for car rides and long walks. She doesn't pull on the leash and stays right next to when on walks. We were told she lived with a cat, but whenever she was around the cat was hiding. Sabrina will be a perfect addition to any family. Will update more after her spay. |
