UPDATE 8/26/09 - Zander is an absolute joy!!  He and his big sister, 3 year old Lily, are getting along well!  I think that they would play 24 hours a day if I didn't require them to sleep at night!
Zander went to the vet on July 29th and had his rabies vaccine and second round of the distemper/parvo series.  Also, was checked for worms and was worm free!  Yay!  We will be going back within the next 2 weeks for the final in the series and also for the lyme vaccine.
I have tons of fabulous pictures that I would love to share but am not sure how!  One day Zander and Lily were sunbathing on the deck while I was doing dishes.  I could see them from the sink and suddenly noticed that Zander was not in his spot.  When I went to check on him he had climbed up into the adirondack chair!  It was sooo cute!
Zander and I recently came home from a camping trip in Cape Cod.  He was so much fun to travel with!  He loved going to the beach and digging in the sand,  napping in the sun, and playing with his many dog friends!  He found his summer love at the beach...5 month old Cadence, a bull mastiff!  He met Oliver, a pug, who helped to show him that the water was actually fun!
One evening we went to Chatham to walk around town.  My brother-in-law stayed outside with Zander while my sister and I went in the candy store for a few minutes.  When we came out Zander was sunnyside up on the sidewalk enjoying a bellyrub and an entire crowd had formed around him!  He certainly can attract a crowd!  Thanks to Zander we made many new human and furry friends!

7/25/09 - I was adopted today!

- Zander arrived a few days ago and is the sweetest pup. He gets along well with the other dogs and is my 11 month old boxers best friend. They play absolutely non-stop. Zander is a high energy pup and will benefit from having another young dog to play with and a very active family. He loves everyone he has met, hard to imagine this adorable little guy was a stray to a wonderful shelter we work with. He is up to date on his puppy vaccines and has been dewormed. He is too young for his rabies vaccine so he will need that and another deworming in the next few weeks.

Zander went to a friends b-day Party with us yesterday. It was at a big state park. He traveled well the 3+ hour drive and was happy to meet Scooby & Coral (SCBR adopted dogs). He hiked the trails even down tons of old stone steps and never missed a beat. He did however think Scooby & Coral were insane for getting wet in the creek. Zander was happy to stay on the creek bank and watch their insanity. Since Zander was a stray we are not sure if he is pure boxer or not. He has a bit longer snout. That could just mean that his parents weren't quite up to breed standards or that he is a mix. He is also much heavier/more solid than most boxer pups. He is going to be a large dog when full grown. I would have to venture a guess in saying that while boxer is the dominant breed he may have some Bulldog in him (not the short squatty English Bulls, he is much to tall but the larger American Bulldog). At any rate, we don't much care all we know is he is a sweet, outgoing, loveable boy who will make some lucky family VERY happy.
**Note- Because I am a baby, I will need to go where someone is home most of the time- work at home, retired, stay home mom, etc.
