UPDATE 4/2/11 - Elvis is a very good boy. He is very good nautured and also did well at the Vet. He's had a few of his lumps biopsied and they came back negative for cancerous cells. That was great news. Elvis also loves his bath. He has lost a few pounds and looks great but I was a little apprehensive about being able to get him in the tub but he cooperated fully and loves his bath!
The dogs are being spoiled with affection, good food, healthy treats and lots of attention. They love taking walks and love the big backyard they run around in.
I'm so glad I made the choice to adopt my 2 boxers and I'm sure if they could talk, they'd say the same.

UPDATE 12/29/10 - Elvis has adjusted very well to our home. So well in fact that I believe he thinks he is the boss around here. He is a wonderful dog and quite the character. My 80 lb. boxer is a lapdog and leaves a little room for me to sleep in my bed. He was very agreeable about his bath and did very well at the Vet. A couple of his lumps were tested and came back benign. That was the best news I've had since getting the okay to adopt him. He's lost a few pounds and now has a waistline. He is a loving and devoted friend and I am so happy to have him as part of my family!

UPDATE 11/29/10 - Just wanted to give you the update on the boys (Elvis and Tyson V). They are doing great. They're being extremely spoiled. They went to the Vet the day after I got them on Nov 22nd and got checked over. They enjoyed a great Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixin's. They have the run of the house and sleep with me each night (taking up 3/4 of the bed of course!) They've had fun playing out in the yard. I've noticed a gradual increase in trust which is heartwarming. It took Tyson a bit longer than Elvis but he is now coming around beautifully.
There's only a couple of problems with Elvis. I've learned he can open my refrigerator door and reach just about anywhere on my countertops so I've installed a few "childproof" gadgets. The other problem has been to teach Elvis (in a loving way) that he is not the boss of the house and every living creature around him. He is an old dog as the saying goes, but I'm hoping with patience and kindness Elvis will understand that we're all equally important in this house.
Talk to you next month. Hope all is well with the rest of the furry friends.

11/21/10 - Elvis has been adopted!

11/5/10 -
Elvis is doing just great.  His sutures were removed last week.  And all the sites healed very well.  He is a loving, active, velcro boy.  He loves to cuddle, and sleep close.  Sits to await his dinner and is great with the girls.  Had him at the vets and he passed the "good with cats" with flying colors, also met a small canine and was great there as well.  My vet thinks he is fine for now.  The other day he was doing body slams with Anneke (she is 6) and they were having a great time running, chasing, etc.  Then I saw him head for Grandma Roxie (she is 15 1/2) and I thought "oh, no".  But he put on the brakes just inches from her and gave her a sniff only.  She was delighted to be included in the "games".

We are still trying to get our camera to download photos.  The one on the site is making him look sad, and he is far from sad.  He is Joyful.  A treasure.

10/11/10 -
Elvis joined the Doghouse after being released from a Vet in MD, who performed several surgeries to remove some growths on his left foreleg and left rear leg.  He has been a great house guest so far.  Making himself right at home and making friends with the resident ladies.  Did a little too much running with my younger girl Anneke, but has now settled down to let the sutures heal.  We will be visiting our local vet for further updates on his prognosis.  He is a large boxer, but also large lapdog and lovebug.  Loves dinner, cookies, etc. etc.  Will know more in a couple of days.

10/10/10-
Elvis is in the building!  He is a handsome 7 year old fawn boy with natural ears and cropped tail.  He weighs 83.6 lbs.  He is a BIG boy. Very mellow until he met his harem. He loves running around the yard, but he needs to be a little quiet as he had surgery on both his front left leg and rear left leg.  He is neutered, UTD on shots, good with the girls. Will need further medical evaluation on his surgery. Will update more later, just wanted all to know that he is here.

10/8/10 -
Elvis's transport was postponed a week because the vet in Maryand decided to do the surgery to remove the tumors from his legs and have him start healing there while they waited for the biopsies. He said that the tumor on his back leg, that you can see in the picture, was removed without concern. There was another on his left front leg that they removed and biopsy came back as it being a Mast Cell Tumor, so it was a good thing they had taken a few days to shrink it before removing it, or it would be a bugger of a wound to close. He'll be here soon!

10/2/10 -
Elvis is coming to us from one of the shelters we work with all the way down in Maryland. He is going to have two tumors removed from his legs and heal with Auntie Helen before he's ready to go home with you.

NOTE- SCBR WAIVES ITS TRAINING REQUIREMENT ON DOGS AGED 7 OR OLDER.
