UPDATE 2/28/10 - Remi is doing great. She loves loves loves the Snow and we all know we have had a lot of it..... Remi went to the local high school field and ran and ran and ran she loves running too. Remi had her first obedience class last week she did GREAT. He trainer said that she looks like a show dog we agree. We had to re-schedule the training this week due to weather but we can't wait until our next class. We have to work on a few things. One very important thing is to not jump on visitors when the come into our home. We will send another update next month...

UPDATE 1/29/10 - Remi is an absolute pleasure to have in our home. My husband picked up Remi on Saturday 1-23-10 and drove her in the car for a 10 hour trip. She was an angel the entire car trip even in traffic. Once she came to our home before be brought her into the house we took her for a long long walk. Remi is great with my 2 children a boy age 3 1/2 and a newborn baby girl born on 1-19-10. Remi is completely potty trained and has not had 1 accident in our home. I can not say enough good things about Remi. We left her home alone for the 1st time on 1-27-10 for about 30 min then left again for another 30 minutes she did not do anything wrong she just greeted me when I got home with my slippers. She loves taking walks with my husband and she loves playing fetch with my 3 1/2 year old son..... My son did not play with his toys for 2 days he just played with Remi.... We have 2 new additions to our family and are sooooo happy with Remi and of course love our new baby girl more than words ca  n say.....

1/23/10 - Remi has been adopted!

1/3/2010 -
Hard to believe this "pumkinhead" is still with us.  She has learned so much here.  She is a perfect family, fun, loving dog.  She loves children, she loves people, and she loves us wayyy too much [We feel the same]!
She is so playful that her fun loving energy is contagious.  You can't help but want to play with this goofy, tongue hanging, big eyed beast.  She can be gentle at times when she plays, but a little jumpy on ya, so we are working on her jumping up on people.  She can almost knock you down since she has gained quite a bit of weight, all muscle.  Her rear shanks are huge from all the running she gets in the woods around here.  Her form is perfect and she is a beautiful boxer to "strut" around the neighborhood.  A dog to be proud of, for sure.
Remi has learned not to beg in the kitchen while we prepare our meals.  This took a while to do, but worth it.  She can learn quite a bit with patience and proper training.  And she can be fun to teach.  You can't help but kiss her every time she gets something right!!   We have fallen hard for this muscular, bundle of joy.  It would be hard to see her leave for her forever home, but we know she more than deserves a wonderful home.  Could that be you?

12/03/2009
Anybody missing a little fun in their life?  Then Remi is the one for you.  She loves to play and play.  She runs in the yard with toys in her mouth and tries to get my spoiled lazy girls to play with her.  But my girls won't budge.  They either ignore her or lash out at her.  So we call my brother in law over with his male dog, Nails, to play with Remi.  Remi loves Nails.  They can play all day those two.
I know Remi would be great in a house with a playful dog near her age.  Remi is four.   She lives to play and lives for her walks at the park.  She is just happy all the time.  We have grown fond of her so much.  She makes us laugh quite a bit. She is listening better to her commands, and kisses a lot.  What more could you want in a dog?
I am really surprised to see that she yet has to be adopted.  She's a great dog and bonds closely with her owner[s].  She may need little work on walking, but she is learning day by day.
We will miss this one when she finally does get her forever home.

10/22/09
Remi has learned so much since being with us.  She knows her boundaries during eating time and we usually don't have to repeat commands to her.  However, she can be easily distracted and puts on a deaf ear when she is focused elsewhere.  I know this can be resolved with proper dog training in obedience school.
Remi is very bright and aware of her surroundings indoors and out.  I know this can make her a wonderful watch dog.  Even though Remi barks at visitors, she quickly becomes a friendly greeter.  We are working on her to stop "over" greeting visitors by jumping on them.  But we know she just wants to be noticed.
And what a wonderful, playful dog she is.  She catches Frisbees in the air, also, she jumps at balls tossed in the air.  She really loves to play and she is hilarious to watch as she amuses herself when no one is around to play with.  Remi is a joy to foster. I know she will be a great family pet or a wonerful companion for anyone looking to bond with an active, loving, not to mention big kisser, of a dog.
Oh, I must mention that she doesn't drool, or is a wet sloppy kisser.  She is pretty neat when she drinks from the water bowl, no dripping or slobbering water and she eats her meals completely.  We hardly have to clean up after her in the house.  I must also say that she doesn't need her crate anymore.  She has her own bed and when we go out, she has absolutely no separation anxiety.
We love fostering Remi.  She has brought us so much joy and laughter.  Anyone would be lucky to adopt her.  Maybe you?

9/24/09 -
Remy is doing really great in her foster home.  She is learning her boundaries such as, "no", "stop", "go".  However, she is still a maniac on the leash.  She just gets too excited when we start our walk.  She jerks the leash trying to run. When she sees squirrels, birds, etc, she loses all sense of control and wants to chase after them. (Because of this, I do not recommend she goes to a house with cats or small dogs.) She once pulled the leash so hard and fast that I tumbled over. The good news is that, when I gained my composure, Remy hadn't gone far and came right back to me when I called her!
     Remy is a fantastic dog
in the house, however.  She is not a dog that goes crazy in the house.  She has no separation anxiety.  In fact, we don't even crate her when we go out anymore.  She simply waits for us in her bed.  She isn't a counter surfer, or a garbage dog.  She doesn't get into anything she shouldn't.  She just loves to play!!
My two spoiled rotten females will not play with Remy and they find her a nuisance.  She really isn't.  She plays a lot with her toys. She also plays endlessly with my brother in law's dog, Nails, when they visit.  They love each other.  When they first met, it was a little sticky to begin with, but it settled quickly and they are the best friends ever. I guess the moral of this story is that when it comes to other dogs, Remy needs to be given time to adjust.  It could take anywhere from a week or two, to an hour or two for them to get along, but they will.  She's worth it.  Remy is a good player and just a goofy, fun, loving dog.

09/14/2009
Remy has been here a month now.  She really settled in nicely.  She is getting better with the leash, but still needs much improvement.  It may be her strong zest for life that makes her tug so much on the leash.  She loves her walks and just wants to run when she is out in the open air.
Remy just wants to play and play.  She is so full of life.  She loves everyone and everything.  She is a big kisser and greets all our visitors with big sloppy kisses.  My one niece, who is seven, has decided to call Remy "Licky, Licky". Perfect name for a kisser of a dog. Truly, she kisses people on their jeans, hands, legs, she even licks my couch cushions when we cuddle.  Weird, goofy, strange, loving dog.
Sometimes Remy is sooooo goofy she makes us laugh at her silliness.  She plays catch, she jumps and leaps for her toys in the air.  She even crouches under shrubs, furniture, low standing tables to reach a toy in a hard to get at area.  Nothing stops her from her fun.
Remy would need a family that is active and willing to giver her time at the park and play time at home.  She is great with kids over four years.  We have fallen hard for this sweet loving beast, even when she doesn't listen to us.  She can be a sweetheart of a pup and a little devil soon after.  She definitely keeps us on our toes.    Think she might be for you?

08/20/09
Remi was spayed on 8/17/09.  All is well and she is doing fine.  Remi has now been with us over a week and she has settled down a bit.  However, she still piddled in the house a couple of times.  At first I thought it was maybe the surgery making her a little lazy but after a couple days she piddled again.  [Thank goodness for ceramic tile].
Anyway, she is getting better with some commands like "sit", "stay"," paw", "lay down".  However, "come here" is still on a selective choice with her.  Must have treats for that one!
Despite little mistakes, Remi, is a very lovable dog and filled with kisses and wiggles.  We have grown very fond of her and love having her here.
Her appetite is good and healthy.  We hope to put some weight on her.  She refuses almost nothing.
I can't wait to take pictures of her and post them.  Her eyes are very unusual to me.  Light amber and almost human like.  Just wait to I post those pictures.
I will do another update later, after the weekend.  Till then, boxer wiggles and kisses from Remy.

08/12/09
- Remi has arrived here at our home Sunday the 9th.  Thanks Jill for meeting us half way in getting her here.
Remi is a smaller boxer.  Kinda of thin right now.  She weighs roughly around 55lbs. maybe 60lbs.  She is quite beautiful with her fawn coat, black mask, and gorgeous amber eyes.
She has energy of a puppy.  Plays with her toys ands loves her walks as if she never has had one before.  However, she is terrible on the leash.  Pulls very hard till she is on her hind legs.  Like she never saw a park before.  Then she barks happily at nothing.  Just barking because she is at the park.  She needs a lot of training as far as walks go.
Remi doesn't listen to commands that well.  She knows sit, give paw, but that maybe about it.  "Come here"  command she adheres to as long as she sees a treat or loving arms to welcome her in.
Remi shows no interest in my two other females.  She actually growls at my older female, Cece, only if Cece is too close too her while she is getting affection.  No dog fights though.  She has no desire to play with my younger boxer, Athena.  She does her own thing.
Remi has not been here a full week yet so there are some kinks to work out with her.  She somehow feels she can do as she pleases in the house and has actually peed in our bedroom and basement.  She doesn't seem to understand the word "bad".  But we will have her learn it real quick.
She barks at night in her crate and hates it in there.  But she has a tendency to roam around the house at night, therefore the crate is necessary.  She only barks for a full minute or two then falls asleep for the night.
Remi is an affectionate, loving kisser otherwise.  She is playful and amuses herself with her toys.  She is just a good girl with bad habits.  We will work on those habits though, in order to make her as perfect as we can get her.
     More next week with pictures!
