Overall we are all very happy that we adopted him. UPDATE 10/31/10 - ricky is doing great and just settling just fine will start obedience training soon he is harsome all my narbour love this little man UPDATE 10/23/10 - ricky is home with us and just settling real good so for 10/23/10 - Ricky has been adopted! 10/18/10 - This is one very sweet and happy boy. He is still a little nervous, however it is nothing out of the normal behavior of a youngster who has been thru a lot of changes in a very short period of time. He does very well with other dogs, both playing and sleeping, he seems to be happy to curl up with another buddy and if one isn't available, he will get as close as possible to anyone who doesn't move when he settles down to sleep. He will go in his crate, but, once in he will bark and franticly dig to get out for a little while. Once he settles down he is quiet. I can't say it is his favorite place to be, but he is safe and he doesn't fuss for all that long. I know it is a safe place for him to be while I'm at work, and he has another dog only a few feet away that is crated as well. Breakfast and dinner time are always a little hectic at my house, but he does have a good appetite even though he's not really comfortable in the feeding spot I have for him. He is fine eating in the company of other dogs within close proxcimity, but he is still a little nervous. I'm also sure that this will subside when he settles in more and realizes that no one is interested in his food as they all have their own. He is a young boy with a great deal of potential. His leash manners are very typical of a boy his age, he does pretty well, but work will be needed in this area. He responds to the sit command and stay is also a work in progress. He will be a great addition for someone looking for an active boy who will be submissive with other dogs. 10/17/10 - Ricky arrived full of puppy energy and couldn't wait to run around the fenced yard and stretch his travel weary legs with my other foster Rocket Man. Ricky is a light fawn boy with a little splash of white on his nose and white toes, and is still growing. He's on the tall side, so my guess is he will be a pretty good size boy when he is fully grown and at 8 months he is still growing. He did surprise me tonight and ate a very hearty meal, then went right outside to continue his puppy play with my dogs as well as my foster. Please check back in with Ricky in a few days as we get to know this boy a little better and we will continue to update you. |
