UDPATE 7/1/11 - I have missed my update date by a month or so. There's nothing new to tell. Rizzo is perfect. She is such a family girl. She hangs out in the yard with my grandsons and never runs into the neighbors' yards. She doesn't even chase cats or deer. My 3 year old granson can walk her on a leash. We all love her as much as she loves us. There are no signs of any new mast cell tumors. Rizzo is just a perfect member of our family.

UPDATE 1/26/11 - There's no more to say about Rizzo. She's still wonderful. She still loves the kids. It's as if she's been with us from birth. I really love this dog.

UPDATE 12/19/10 - Rizzo becomes more of a family member each day. One of my older grandsons is visiting from Florida. He and Rizzo are now the best of friends. Once again I came home from work today and Rizzo was nowhere to be found. I finally heard her toes tapping around upstairs with my daughter, son in law and 2 little grandchildren.
I took Rizzo to meet the vets Friday. Dr. Lee was very inpressed with her. She  is very healthy and has gained enough weight that he didn't comment on how skinny she is.
We started obedience classes on Wednesday. Will be fun to see how she does as the weeks pass.
I love this little dog. Thanks to her old family for thinking enough about her to care for her when you could and giving her up when you couldn't. I know you must miss her as she is the best dog. I will take good care of her now.

UPDATE 11/27/10 - Rizzo is a delightful member of the family. My grandsons love her as much as she loves them. She's really gentle with them. The older one wants Rizzo to sleep in his crib with him---no room.
She is adjusting to a new family quite well I think. She seems more relaxed as each day passes.
The other dogs seem to like her but not her energy level.
She has an appointment with the vet next week. I want her to get to know everyone at the office in case she needs to go for something other than the usual visits.
Obedience starts Dec. 15th. It should be fun and I'm sure she'll be the star of the class.
I'll keep you posted on how things are going. Right now we need to sleep. Rizzo started out on the couch at night, then went to her crate, then the foot of the bed. now she's curled up beside me on the pillows. I think she's settling in!

11/20/10 - Rizzo has been adopted!

11/6/10 -
The Riverview Boxerhostel is delighted to announce that Rizzo has arrived. Already we are absolutely positive that she won't be with us for long! She is an adorable, well-behaved happy girl who has already charmed us, and Rocky. Who wouldn't be charmed! We don't think that she acts her age, which is still quite young at five. She acts more like a three year old (which actually may be too much for Rocky now and then). She races around the yard, and has already discovered the toy box. She knows how to gnaw on a marrow bone, and has not one particle of aggressiveness around toys or food or even a marrow bone!
She rode like the lady that she is in the back seat yesterday, and after wiggling her nub at Rocky through the baby gate she followed me through the entire house on our way to the back yard where she immediately squatted to pee--yeah--housebroken!!! Rizzo slept all night--until 9:30 AM-- in the crate next to my bed without uttering a single sound. She did need a little encouragement (push) to enter the crate, but once in was fine. I suspect that she had to spend a little too much time in her crate before. We'll see how she does on Monday when we return to work. She will have Rocky
to keep her company, and we won't be gone as long as her owner had to be, so I'm sure she'll be fine.

11/2/10 -
Rizzo is an owner surrender due to a divorce in the family. The family felt she was spending to much time home alone. She has just walked through the door but is very friendly to everyone she has met and wants to give the baby kisses. We will update her and get pictures as we get to know her in a few days.
